Deployment Guide: Zyrabit SLM on Oracle Always Free (2026)

This guide allows you to set up a sovereign AI node (Zyrabit SLM + Ollama + RAG) on Oracle Cloud Always Free Tier, using the Pay As You Go trick to bypass capacity limits. You use 4 OCPUs / 24 GB RAM ARM (Ampere A1 Flex), which is free for life if minimum usage is maintained.

Objective: Demo/PoC for clients, 24/7 monitoring, and backup without cost. Time: 30 min. Cost: $0 (always).

Prerequisites

  • OCI Always Free Account.
  • SSH key pair generated.
  • GitHub repo cloned locally.

Phase 1: Secure Network (VCN)

Create a zero-trust VCN to expose only what is necessary (SSH, HTTP/HTTPS).

Phase 2: Compute Instance (Ampere A1 Flex)

  • Shape: VM.Standard.A1.Flex → 4 OCPUs, 24 GB RAM.
  • Boot Volume: 200 GB.
  • Image: Ubuntu 24.04.

Phase 3: Automation (Cloud-Init + Docker)

Use our Cloud-Init YAML script to verify Docker installation and clone the Zyrabit-SLM repo automatically.

Phase 4: Connection and Validation

SSH into your instance and verify the stack configuration.

Phase 5: Optimization and Maintenance

  • Monitoring: Free 500M ingest points.
  • Backups: Docker volumes on Boot Volume.

Enterprise-grade infrastructure for $0. That is the Open Core advantage.
